Yeah, I Look Good

You know when you have one of them days where you think, yeah I look pretty good today.  Your hair goes right, your make-up goes perfect, your outfit looks good and you just generally think you look nice.  I had one of those days today.  It felt good.

Not so good quality picture taken from my phone.

Last night I went to see Derren Brown.  I was a bit sceptical about going to see him.  I had seen him on TV before and found it interesting, but I didn't think it would be that great seeing him live.  My brother likes Derren Brown though so I bought him a ticket for Christmas and bought myself one to go along with him.  It was actually quite epic!

I'm going shopping tomorrow evening.  Since I don't have a job any more it would be a good idea to not buy anything and save my money.  But my wardrobe desperately needs updating, and I have seen things that I want...

Like this dress from Topshop:
I am absolutely loving this colour at the moment!

And these jeans from Topshop:

I think that's the colour I want to go for.  They don't have to be necessarily from Topshop (you can only get these ones online) but some like this pair.

And finally these shoes from Miss Selfridge:

I don't yet have a pair of wedges, so I think it's time I purchased some!

It's time for me to go and pick my boyfriend up from his night out now.  What a joke!

Things That Make Me Happy: List 1

It was back to uni today for me!  Finally! I haven't had any lectures in months!  Now I have a full timetable for the next few months.  This morning I got woken up with my boyfriend bringing me pancakes and tea to my bed.  At first I thought I was dreaming.  But no, sure enough he was standing there in front of me.  I have never had pancakes for breakfast before.  But they were very yummy.  I never thought lemon and sugar would go down well for breakfast, but I thought wrong.

Each Monday I am going to make a list of 10 things that make me happy, because let's face it, Mondays can be a bit depressing.  So here is my first list!

Things That Make Me Happy: List 1

 1. My Family
I live away from home while I am at uni and can sometimes go for weeks without seeing my family.  I do miss them.  I might not like living at home with my parents much, but it does make me happy to see my family.

2. My Bed.
It's a very comfy memory foam mattress, and I could lie in it all day!  I love my sleep, I can never get enough.

3. Cups of Tea
I love tea! It's one of the best drinks ever.  Especially when it's cold.  I think I might be addicted.

From: http://news.n7w.com/2011/08/30/festival-time-for-many-new7wonders-of-nature-fans/sunrise1/
4. Sunrise
I am rarely awake to see this.  But a few months ago when I was driving to placement I would be driving to work so early that I would see the sun rise.  I loved it.  Or I like it when I'm coming home from a night out and you can see the sun come up.  It's very pretty.

5. Walks Along The Beach
There's just something special about walking along the beach barefoot on a nice sunny day.

6. Smirnoff Vanilla Vodka
Not because this is alcohol (well... maybe partly) but because this is one of the best tasting and nicest smelling drinks I have ever come across.  It's so nice.  Especially mixed with cream soda.  Yum.

7. Money
I don't believe that money alone can create happiness.  But without money I worry about how to pay bills and have to be extremely careful with what I spend.  If I have money then I can spend without worrying too much.

8. Wales
Why Wales?  People ask.  I'm not sure.  I just love the place.  I have had some of the best times of my life in Wales.  Very happy memories indeed!

9. Enter Shikari
I have seen this band so many times now, and each time they have never failed to disappoint.  They are awesome!  I could listen to their music forever and ever and ever.  If I am feeling a bit down I can stick on a bit of Enter Shikari and it will usually cheer me up.

10. Festivals!
The music, the mud, the friends, the fun, the stress free awesome-filled weekend.  Yes, I even like the mud!

Lazy Day

Today was lovely!  I laid in bed until gone 11.  Then I laid in bed some more watching TV.  I spent the afternoon doing things I had been meaning to do for ages such as cleaning and catching up with what uni work needs doing.  It doesn't sound that great but it was for me because I didn't have to go work.  I could just bum around slowly doing whatever I wished.

I went to the cinema last night to see Safe House.  It was a pretty good film.  Although I did fall asleep - I was so tired and even though it was a good film I couldn't stop my.  I don't think I was even asleep for 5 minutes because I don't think I missed very much.  I have never fallen asleep in the cinema before!  Except when I fell asleep during Star Wars (the 3D version) with my eyes open!

T-Zone Shine Control Cleansing Wipes
I normally use the Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion morning and night.  I think it's great but sometimes using it twice a day can be a bit too harsh for my skin and I want something a bit more gentle.  So I recently I have started to use these T-Zone cleansing wipes.  I usually use them after using a face wash and drying the skin.  They leave my face feeling refreshed and cleansed.  It does everything that it says on the packet except one small thing.  It claims to remove make-up instantly.  Now, I don't exactly cake the foundation on but I need a bit more than these wipes to remove my make-up.  I still use a make-up remover and a face wash before using these wipes.  However I didn't buy these wipes as a make-up remover.  So they do the job that I need them to do just fine.  So if you are looking for a more gentle cleanser, then these wipes are the way to go!

A Little Update

Tomorrow is my first free day after 5 weeks without a day off.
That's right, for the last five weeks I have been working 7 days a week without a day off.  Ok, I had a day off when it snowed because I couldn't get to work on Sunday, but that doesn't count because I still got up early and got ready for work that morning.  I am feeling so exhausted and worn out.  On Friday it was my last day of placement (no more placement for a few months!), and today was my last day of my weekend job.  I am now a free woman! (If I forget about the uni work!)  It feels good.

I am off to the cinema with the boyfriend to see Safe House in a bit.  I have no plans for tomorrow except to lay in bed and bum around all day.  It's going to be a good feeling.

Next year is my last year at uni! That's sad.  However it is that time of year to sort out accommodation for next year!  I've already sorted out who I'm living with.  We went to look around the new house today.  Fingers crossed I will get the room I want, and if I don't get that room then hopefully I will get the second room I want!  I'm already excited about how I'm going to decorate it and how it's going to look.  I love moving into a new room and decorating it how I like and making it feel all homely.  I can't wait to move out of this shithole of a house!  My current house is so crappy, the new house is much nicer.

Now I have finished placement I can finally wear what I want everyday and not my shapeless, unflattering work uniform.  I can finally grow and paint my nails, I can wear more make-up during the day if I wish, I can wear whatever jewellery what I want, I can wear whatever shoes I want.  I have actually missed choosing an outfit in the morning.

Plans for the next few months!
In the next few months I plan to work really hard with my uni work.  The grades I got last year weren't the greatest and I didn't work particularly hard either so this year I want to work as hard as I can!  I need a new hobby too.  Sometimes I find myself sitting around feeling a bit bored so I need to go out there and find something!  Next week I also plan to get back to the gym.  I want to start some classes too such as aerobics and zumba.  I really want to get back in shape!

That is all for now.  Cinema. Then SLEEP!

I Always Like The Expensive Things

Tomorrow is my last day of my hospital placement!  I cannot wait.  I like my placement, but it gets tiring!
On Tuesday evening me and the boyfriend went out for food to Frankie and Bennys, I like that place.  On Wednesday (last night) we made pancakes, a day late, but they were good pancakes!  With lots of maple syrup, sugar and lemon juice.  Then we went to the cinema to see Ghost Rider.  It was an ok film, nothing too special, just alright.

Since last Friday I've been using a sample of Estée Lauder DayWear B.B. Anti-Oxidant Beauty Benefit Creme.  You can get it in two different shades, I actually have no idea what shade I have been using as it doesn't say anywhere on the packaging.  I have been using this cream everyday before putting on my foundation and I love it!  I'm pretty sure my skin has improved (both moisture-wise and spot-wise) and my skin doesn't seem to look so oily or shiny during the day.  I experimented yesterday and did not use this cream under my foundation, to see if I preferred using it or not and I decided that I definitely preferred using it.  You could also wear this cream on it's own without putting foundation on the top as it gives quite good coverage.  It is quite pricey at £32 per 30ml.  But I love this stuff and will be buying some very soon when my sample tube runs out!

It's Been A While!

I've neglected this a bit in the past week.  I've been on placement working from 2pm until 8pm.  I love working those hours because I can have a lie in until 11 or 12 and don't go into work feeling all sleepy like I usually do in the mornings.  Well, that's normally the plan, but I was busy doing stuff most mornings last week.  Then it's nearly 9pm when I get home and the evening has already gone, especially by the time I've made dinner and sat down, it's nearly time for bed.  I was working in A&E though so it was interesting, I loved it!

Valentines!
I hope you all had a good Valentine's Day! Ok, I don't normally..er.. celebrate? it.  I hate it and really don't see the point.  Yes, I am a Valentine's scrooge.  I remember last year my boyfriend convinced me into going out for dinner and I hated it because we sat at a tiny, cramped table, in a very noisy restaurant, inches away from other couples, and the food took so long to come because there were so many people there.  This year I was working late so me and the boyfriend decided to swap pancake day with Valentine's Day.  So on Tuesday we made pancakes, which we really had no idea how to make, but they turned out yummy anyway.  Except the one that I made.  That one went quite wrong.  Then we are going out for dinner whenever pancake day is meant to be.
My Mum sent me a few little Valentine's gifts.  One of which included this lovely necklace.  I can't wait to wear it!

New Clothes!
One morning during the week I decided to go on a bit of a shopping spree.  Luckily the only things I saw that I wanted to buy were from Primark so I didn't end up spending too much money.  I NEEED to save money!  I bought two tops.

The green top was £5, not too sure on the cream one but it wasn't much more than that, maybe £8.

I also bought some hand cream.

I am always on the look out for different hand creams because I get terribly dry skin.  Especially when I am on placement because I have to wash my hands loads of times a day and they get really red, dry and sore.  So I thought I would try this hand cream.  It smells lovely!  Really bannanery.  I really do like this hand cream, it's very thick and does the job quite well.  Within a few uses it transforms my dry hands and makes my skin much softer.  Is it worth the £9.99 I paid for it?  I'm not too sure.  In my opinion it is quite pricey.  I would definitely buy this again, just not very often due to the price, but then I think it will last quite a long time as the cream is quite thick so you don't need to use much.

What else have I been up to?
I've been going to the cinema quite a bit recently.  There isn't really much else to do around here anyway.  The two most recent films that I have been to see are Man On A Ledge and The Woman In Black.  I really enjoyed Man On A Ledge.  It is as the title says, it's about a man on a ledge, and quite often during the film I found my stomach doing flips as I really don't like heights.  I got quite drawn into this film and really liked it.  I went to see The Woman In Black last night.  It's a 12A.  I am 21 and I found it really quite scary.  I get scared quite easily and have a fear of dolls (usually old ones) and clowns which this film included - I know this is a weird fear but they really freak me out!  Me and the boyfriend ended up holding onto each other as it had quite a few jumpy moments.  It was very easy to guess the storyline and I always knew what was going to happen next.  But the mood was set really well and I just found it really quite a good film.  I would recommend it.

I am now going to catch up on the Hustle while lying in bed drinking tea.

Enter Shikari

On Saturday night I went to the cinema to see The Muppets.  It was pretty good actually, not sure if the boyfriend enjoyed it though.  There was only us two, and two other people in the cinema, it was quite eerie.  There was quite a few well known people in it such as Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother), Jim Parsons (Big Bang Theory), Zach Galifianakis (Hangover), Ken Jeong (Hangover), Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother), Sarah Silverman (School of Rock), Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters) and Jack Black.  I've probably missed out some.  Anyway, it's worth going to see.

I was really excited to wear my new top, I'm in love with it.

Last night I went to see Enter Shikari.  Only 100 tickets were sold for this gig, and it was the smallest venue I've ever seen!  It was held in one of the rooms in a pub in Kentish Town.  It was so awesome!  I feel really achey today and have one too many bruises.  But so worth it!  I could dance and jump around to Enter Shikari all day.  It was so hot in that tiny room that there was water (sweat?!) all over the walls, the ceiling was dripping, and gross, sweaty people keep touching me.  But it was so fun.  I have been to see Enter Shikari many times and each time they have never disappointed me.  The smaller gigs are always the best, and this was definitely one of the best!

Snow!

I feel like I have a lot to catch up on.  I don't post on here nearly enough as I would like to, but I'm so busy at the moment!

I found some pictures on my camera which were taken last Saturday night.  The night it snowed.  The night we decided to go to the pub.  The pictures I found were of what I was wearing...

But really, there was no need for me to dress up.  I'll explain.  So, it started snowing before we headed out.  But we had already made the decision to go out to the Uni pub, so we stuck to our plan.  It's a half an hour walk to the pub.  We did phone a cab company but they were charging too much so we decided to walk.  By the time we were got there we were caked in snow - we looked like walking snowmen!  I could feel my hair dripping and make-up running down my face.  But I didn't really care because I thought to myself everyone else would look like that too.  But no.  The three of us walked in there and everyone turned to stare because everyone else was perfectly dry.  I didn't really mind though.  I like walking in the snow, even when it makes me look like a mess.  Then I ended up keeping my coat on all night because the heaters in the pub had broken and it was freezing in there.  Then at about 1or half 1ish in the morning we walked home in the snow.  It was beautiful!  It was untouched and everything looked so clean and white and pretty!! I love snow! I did take my camera with me but was too cold to get it out and the two guys who I were with weren't so enthusiastic about the snow as I was.  It was so lovely though! Part of the journey involved trying to walk up hills in the quite deep snow, failing, and rolling down them.  It was fun!

All week I've been on placement. So glad it's the weekend now! Even though I work at weekends!

During the week some samples arrived from www.latestinbeauty.com

My favourite was Super by Dr Nicholas Perricone, Bright Eyed.

This stuff was great.  It does what it says on the packet, 'primes, hydrates, de-puffs.'  I used this a few times in the morning before applying my make-up.  Each time my eyes felt fresh and brighter somehow.  I also used it one morning after.. an incident.. had happened the night before ending in tears which resulted in very puffy eyes the next morning.  Usually the puffiness would last pretty much all day but this cream worked very quickly.  It smells quite nice.  I would definitely consider purchasing this.

I wasn't so keen on the Elemental Herbology Soothing Oil Free Facial Hydrator.  I really didn't like the smell and it left my face feeling quite greasy.  The Cool and Clear Facial Cleanser wasn't too bad.  Again, I wasn't a fan of the smell, it reminded of my the dentist!  But it felt ok, wasn't the worst cleanser I've used, wasn't the best.  I did quite like the Facial Glow Radiance Peel Mask.  It left my skin feeling quite refreshed and clean. I would use it again.

As for the Green Tea Marvel Gel Blackhead Remover, I was quite looking forward to using this stuff.  But it had obviously been hanging around a bit too long and was all dried up in the packet meaning I couldn't use it.  It was quite disappointing.

There was more snow on Thursday night!  It made me excited.  So here's some of my Friday morning snowy pictures... (As you can tell, I live in a beautiful area... HA!  No)

I do love trees with snow on.  They look so pretty!

Soap & Glory

Today was nice.  Had a long lie in bed (which was much needed!).  Watched 24 for hours.  Then went off shopping.

I am loving this stuff at the moment...

Soap & Glory Hand Food.  I kept hearing so much about this stuff and I love testing out new moisturisers and hand creams, so I went off to Boots to give it a try.  It is so moisturising!  I wasn't keen on the smell at first, but now I quite like it.  I guess it smells a bit flowery.  My hands were quite dry last week though and after using this hand cream everyday for a few days my hands are now lovely and soft.

I have run out of my usual Clinique face wash and while waiting for my new one to arrive, I desperately needed to buy another one to keep me going.  So I got this...
Soap & Glory Face Soap.  I wasn't sure on how good this would be, but I quite like it!  It's left my skin feeling really clean and smooth, and it smells quite nice too!
I will definitely be buying both products again!

Wishlist

As it's been cold today, I have been hiding inside.  I couldn't get to work.  I didn't want to go anyway, but then my car wouldn't actually move because of all the snow and other cars had parked way too close to me and I was scared of skidding and hitting them.  So I have spent a lot of the day online shopping... well, online shopping without spending money.  I really could do with some money right now.  I have created a wishlist of items that I want and will hopefully be able to afford soon.

£28 from Miss Selfridge

£16 from Topshop

I would wear each top with perhaps shorts like this:
£30 from Miss Selfridge

And these shoes... I love all four!  But especially the heels.  I want both!

£50 from Miss Selfridge

£78 from Topshop

£25 from Miss Selfridge

£20 from Topshop

And a few other bits that I want...

£35 Miss Selfridge

£49 Topshop

£39 Miss Selfridge

£8 River Island

And then this one.  Which is totally unrealistic because I will not be able to afford it any time soon, or, like, ever.  But I want it, so I thought I would add it anyway.
£2495 Roberto Cavalli
That's enough of looking at clothes for me today!

SNOW

SNOW!! I get way too excited about snow!  There's only a thin layer of the white stuff on the ground at the moment but there I was jumping up and down like a little kid.  I just love snow way too much!

This past week has been quite a boring one for me.  It has consisted of work (placement), watching TV and sleeping.  I have been itching to get out.  Sadly I have had stuff to learn and working on placement makes me so tired in the evening.  Last night (Friday) me and the boyfriend went out for food and then to the cinema.  We went to see The Grey.  It was quite a good film.  It has Liam Neeson in who of course, is awesome.  But I was sitting on the edge of my seat throughout the whole film, wondering what was going to happen next.  In my opinion, it's worth going to see.

During the day for work I don't wear much make-up.  I don't have too much time in the mornings to faff about so I just slap on a bit of foundation and some mascara and that's me done, working in a hospital I can't really pile the make-up on anyway.  So when I go out after work or at weekends I love spending my time doing my make-up.

So last night I got out my Barry M Dazzle Dust.

I love this stuff.  The one I used last night was in Mint Green.  It's a very bright colour, and it's very powdery so I don't use much and it spreads quite far.  Then you can just build it up depending on how bright you want the colour.  I also have another in Crystal Blue which is another lovely colour.

Due to the crappy light in my room you can't really see the full effect, but you can get the gist of it.  I don't normally cover the whole eyelid in this eyeshadow.  Just the outer corner (as you can see in the picture).  Sometimes I use it underneath the bottom eyelashes.

Last night I also wore one of my favourite tops which is fairly new.  (From New Look)  I just love it!

That's all for now. I'm off to get ready to go to the Uni bar.  I can't remember the last time I drank alcohol!
