The Scales Do not Lie

Sitting at home on my arse for the last three weeks has not done me any good.  In fact, it has done bad.  I have gained half a stone.  Shock HORROR.  With three remaining weeks until I start back at University I am  going to do something about this terrible weight gain so it's time to put some plans into place.

To be honest it doesn't take much for me to lose weight.  But because of this I tend to be quite careless about the food I eat and the exercise I do.  I allow myself to eat junk food and foods filled with fat, and I virtually do no exercise. Now I'm not saying I'm the world's worst eater, because I do enjoy a good salad and remember to eat my fruit and veg.  But I want this to be a long term plan, I want to love the way my body looks as well as being healthy and looking healthy.  To make sure I keep this up I'm going to log my progress here each week and how well I'm doing or how naughty I've been.

I'm not going to go on some crazy diet and starve myself because that wouldn't work out long term and I like my food too much to starve myself.  I am going to stop snacking as often though.  I think that quite often when I am hungry, I am actually just thirsty so I am going to reach for the water, orange juice or green tea instead.  However if I do find myself hungry after a drink I will eat something healthy like a piece of fruit.  At lunch time I will try eating more salads instead of sandwiches and pizzas.  For dinner I will make my portion size smaller.

Exercise-wise I will start off by jogging. Then I am going to join up to the gym and do some aerobics classes.  Then when I feel brave enough I will start doing weights to tone up (but only light ones at the beginning because I am pathetically weak).

If I stick to this, which doesn't seem too hard, I think I will start to lose weight and look better.  I will update my progress here each week and hopefully soon I will start to see an improvement!!

Is anyone else trying to lose weight or become more healthy at the moment?

Surprise!

It feels like I haven't slept all weekend!  On Saturday I went with a couple of University friends to visit another Uni friend for his surprise 21st birthday.  It was nice to see my University friends and I got to wear my favourite dress... but I forgot my camera so didn't actually get any pictures of me in it.  Then I went to visit another friend yesterday.. and now depressingly I am back home feeling quite sleepless, grumpy and lazy.

I have been experimenting with my nails again, and very much like the results!

Olympia

I've been quite busy in these last few days!  Yesterday I ended up going to see some Olympic hockey games.  It was a last minute thing, getting tickets the night before.  Then having to wake up at half four in the morning to get the train at 5:30 to get to London for 7AM.  Very tiring!  Let's just say I never want to wake up at that time again.  But so worth it!  It was awesome!  Walking through the Olympic Park, masses of people (ok that bit wasn't so fun), seeing the different arenas, walking past camera men with big cameras... It was all quite exciting!  A couple of weeks ago I was a bit sceptical about the whole Olympics in London thing, and planned to stay well away from it.  But I've been loving it!  I took way too many pictures. Here are a few:

Oh look that dress reappears again.  I love it - I think it's the material.  As you can see from the third picture down, we were so early we were the one of the first groups of people into the arena.  By the time we came out, you couldn't move for people!
It's bed time.  I am so tired from days of barely any sleep, I feel like I am about to pass out if I don't lie down!  Goodnight!

I Love A Good Thunderstorm

I've been experimenting recently trying out different nail varnishes and nail patterns.  Some are quite messy and some just turn out crap, but I'm getting better! Here are my nails of the week:

What I used:

I love the weather at the moment!  For example, today it was thundering but it was also sunny, and there was a really bright rainbow outside my house.  It was so pretty.  I love thunderstorms!  Perfect walking weather!

Saturday Is For Shopping

Yesterday I went shopping with my Mum and then for food afterwards in the evening.  I haven't been shopping in FOREVER and felt like a wardrobe update was in need, so I was looking forward too our shopping trip.  Unfortunately I am very short of money so it was mostly looking and not buying.  Although I might have to be naughty and go back during the week to buy a few more items of clothing because I saw some things I really want!  I'll just have to starve in the first month when I go back to University, that's OK right?

Please ignore the huge mess in my room!

Blue t-shirt - H! by Henry Holand
Black top - Primark
Jeans - River Island (old)
Shoes - Primark
I went out wearing the usual sort of thing I would wear: Jeans and a t-shirt.  I am trying to break out of this and start to wear other tops, trousers, shorts and maybe a few dresses and skirts.  I am really not a skirt person and the only time you will catch me wearing a dress is on a night out.  I feel like a change is needed.  So I bought some dresses!

Last night I went to visit a friend and wore one of my new dresses (above).  We weren't going anywhere, just staying in but I thought if I want to change what I wear, why not start now?!  I wore the dress with black tights and the beige shoes pictured above.

I also bought the following two items:

I can't wait to wear this dress, I feel like the shape of the dress really flatters my body shape, and it makes me look slimmer which is always a good thing.  I really like the shoes too, I will probably mostly wear them with jeans to my lectures.

I can't wait to get back to University!  Mainly because of the new room I will be getting.  My new Uni room is much bigger than my room at home and has my double bed waiting for me there.  Here at home in my parent's house there are boxes everywhere in my room which makes it so cramped and there's a lot of mess on the floor because I don't know where to put it all!  This makes my pictures look all cluttered and just generally stresses me out because I hate living in mess.

Recently I have started watching the television programme Lost and I am hooked!!  I think I only started watching it on Friday and I'm already up to episode 9 of the first season.  It is addictive!  Well at least it will give me something to do over the summer when I get bored.

All-in-all a nice weekend for me.  I hope you all had a good weekend too! :)

Nostalgia

I have a cupboard full of clothes that I never wear.  Simply because I have way too many clothes to take to Uni.  This cupboard consists of the clothes that are my least favourite and oldest items.  Today I went rummaging in that cupboard looking for a certain black dress, which I never found, but came across some of the clothes that I used to wear when I was 16.  I of course tried some of these clothes on (feeling very happy that they still fit me), decided I looked awful in them, and then put them in the pile to send to the charity shop.  This got me onto realising how much my style has changed since I was 16/17, even in the last few years!  I used to dress terribly!  Well at least through my rummage I found a few nice skirts which I can start wearing again.
Clothes for the charity shop.
No idea where the other shoe went!!

While looking through the same cupboard I also found some other bits.
Remember these?!...

These bring back memories!!  I would have started playing on that Gameboy if I had found any games!

Well I have spent all day watching films and drinking tea.  And guess what I am going to spend all night doing?  I hope you are all having a better Friday evening than me!

Pizza, Primark & Pictures

Maria is learning to cook!  Yes, that's right, you better believe it!  I made a pizza!  Complete with bacon, sausage, chicken, tomatoes, cheese, garlic butter, chilli oil and a cheesy stuffed crust.  Perhaps not the healthiest of choices but it was yummy nonetheless.

I met up with a friend today and we went to the cinema to see the film Ted.  I don't think the film was that great to be honest but it was good to have a catch up.  I went out dressed from head to toe in Primark and didn't even realise until I came home.  This is what I wore:

I am loving these shoes at the moment.  I also own them in beige, but this colour green is my favourite!
